CSAN announces Election Commission

CSAN announced yesterday its Election Commission for CSAN Presidential Election 2008-2009. The Commission, consisting of Prof. KUONG Teilee, associate professor at the Center for Asian Legal Exchange (CALE), and Mr. Y Samphy, Master student at Graduate School of Law, will take any action necessary to prepare for and to guarantee the fairness of the election.
The election is listed in the agenda of CSAN’s annual General Assembly, scheduled on Sunday, December 21, 2008. The detailed agenda will be released later.
CSAN holds the 4th Bowling Championship

CSAN Bowling Championship, Fall 2008, was held and organized by the Cambodian Students Association in Nagoya (CSAN) on Sunday, November 23, 2008, at Hoshigaoka Bowling Centre. The competition, which was initiated in 2007, is one of the association’s sports activities aiming at strengthening health and friendship among not only its members in Nagoya but also all Cambodian students in Japan.
In this season, 21 contestants of Cambodian Students, 7 of whom are ladies, from Nagoya University registered for the competition which offered the prizes of a cup, a silver medal and a bronze medal for the fist, second and third male and female winner, respectively, and the prize for the best team. As rule, a player with highest average score is rewarded the first, the second and the third in that order, so is the team.
The first male champion is Mr. Thath Rido, a research student at the Graduate School of International Development (GSID), followed by Mr. Ngov Penghuy, a graduate from GSID, as the second and Mr. Song Kosal, a doctoral candidate at the Graduate School of Economics (GSE) as the third. Then, the female champions are Ms. Ly Sopheap, an LL.D candidate at the Graduate School of Law (GSL) ranked the first, Ms.Ek Sopheara, a Master student at GSID, the second, and Ms. Chan Sokyeng, a Master student at GSID, the third. The team, consisting of Mr. Thath Rido, Mr. Ngov Penghuy and Ms. Ek Sopheara won the best team prize.
Cambodian food fair at Nakamura Kindergarten

After an informal discussion session initiated by Nakamura Kindergarten on September 5, 2008 and later communication, Cambodian students were once again invited. In the school’s annual festival on Sunday, November 23, 2008, a food fair, whose menu included Bor-bor Kreung (porridge with meat), La-pov Sankya (pumpkin pudding) and Damloung Chhoeng (sugared sweet potato), was prepared by both Cambodian students and the teachers at the kindergarten. Besides, a quiz on basic Cambodia, a brief show of coconut dance and lessons on Khmer popular dances were provided.
According to Ms Utsunomiya, chief of Nakamura Kindergarten, there were around 300 school kids, aged from zero to five years old, admitted at Nakamura Kindergarten. On the day, the kids were accompanied by their parents to experience the school’s annual event, in which they could learn about other countries. This year, Cambodia was the only foreign country in this exchange.
CSAN announces champions in CSAN Badminton Competition 2008

Badminton Competition is the second sport event, after Bowling Championship first held in 2007, newly initiated by CSAN Committee 2008. The competition is aiming at promoting sport activities, especially the most played badminton in Nagoya, and fostering friendship among players.
The only requirement for the contestants to get into the game was Cambodian national, not restricted to only students in Nagoya. Contestants could register in two categories - Double Men (November 4) and Double Mix (November 18). All the pairs met only once, while the two pairs who got the top set scores in the first round (calculated by 1 and 0 for a win and a loss, respectively) met again to challenge the Gold Medal.
