The following are the contents of the coming party tentatively scheduled by CSAN Committee 2008-2009.

1. Setting

  • Place: Presentation Room, 1st floor, Graduate School of International Development (GSID), Nagoya University
  • Date: Wednesday, December 31, 2008
  • Time: 6pm-12:30am

2. Food

  • “BBC” as an entree/appetizer
  • “Oishi” Spaghatti and “Home-taste” Batei Bread as the main dish(es), and
  • “(Birthday-cake-looking) Cake(s)” and fruits as dissert and symbols of celebration
  • Last but not least, SNACK.

3. Activities

  • Singing and Dancing contest: contact Mr. PHY Nitro to register to win big prize(s)/pride
  • Quizzes about general knowledge
  • “Hot potatoes” game
  • Counting down moments
  • and more spontaneous activities

Note: The Committee sincerely calls for help in preparation, registration in contest and advance notice in case of absence.

New President elected by CSAK

CSAN elects new President

As planned, the Cambodian Students Association in Nagoya (CSAN) elected the new president in its annual General Assembly on Sunday, December 21, 2008. Mr. SAR Senara, the only candidate, won 27 votes of approval out of 29 valid votes casted by 25 members (of the 27 attendents) and 4 proxy holders.

The new President, Mr. SAR Senara, had proposed and been questioned on his policy statement prior to the election and declared his Committee members right after the result announced by the Election Commission. The CSAN Committee Members for 2008-2009 mandate include

  1. President: Mr. SAR Senara, D1(Civil Procedure Law), Graduate School of Law, Nagoya University;
  2. Vice President: Ms. NGIM Sokrachny, D1 (Labor Law), Graduate School of Law, Nagoya University;
  3. Secretary General: Mr. SIM Piseth, Research student (Economic Development), Graduate School of International Development, Nagoya University;
  4. Accountant: Ms. HENG Molyaneth, M2 (International Labor Standard), Graduate School of International Development, Nagoya University
  5. Cultural Officer: Ms. SIN Sokanha, Research student (Women’s Rights), Graduate School of Law, Nagoya University; and
  6. IT Officer: Mr. PHY Nitro, M1 (Alternative Dispute Resolution), Graduate School of Law, Nagoya University.

In the first half of the General Assembly, the former CSAN Committee reported on its Action Plan and each member expressed his/her impression.

POLICIES FOR CSAN
(2008-2009)

- Having been aware of the initial objectives of CSAN which are (1) strengthen solidarity of Cambodian students in Nagoya, if possible, and students in other areas of Japan; (2) to make Cambodian students’ lives in Nagoya easier; and (3) to promote academic and cultural spirits;
- Desiring to contribute to the accomplishment of the aforementioned objectives;
- Believing that maintaining the objective (3) of CSAN would promote the prestige of Cambodian students in Nagoya as a whole;
- Endeavoring to lead the prospective Committee for the better of CSAN for the year to come;

I hereby lay down the policies to be implemented during my term as the President of CSAN mandated 2008-2009 as follows:
1. Maintaining the initial objectives of CSAN;
2. Strengthening the mechanism to effectively maintain and promote the achievement of the initial objectives of CSAN;
3. Promoting the awareness of the existence of CSAN and CSAN’s activities among Japanese students and foreign students in Nagoya;
4. Promoting cooperation with Japanese students, foreign students and other communities for the interests of CSAN’s members and/or those of Cambodia’s prestige.

In order to carry out the above laid down policies and to achieve the objectives to the maximum level, I am committed to establishing the relative mechanism as follows:
1. Strengthening the good understanding, faithful cooperation and transparency among the members of Committees;
2. Promoting the management skill among the members of the Committee by giving each of them main job descriptions, and ensuring their abilities and commitment towards the tasks entrusted;
3. Communicating all necessary information related to all decisions and activities made and conducted in the name of CSAN to all members of CSAN;
4. Getting CSAN members other than those of the Committee involved in all decision makings (to approve or dismiss any plan/project proposed by the Committee)
5. To the maximum level, getting all members of CSAN involved in activities conducted in the name of CSAN.
6. To enforce mechanism (4) above, new voting system(s) will be established according to the decision of members of the Committee.

A candidate for CSAN Presidential Election announced

The Election Commission announced Mr. SAR Senara the candidate having registered to stand for CSAN Presidential Election 2008-2009 to be held on Sunday, December 21, 2008. Majoring in Civil Procedure Law, Mr. SAR Senara, a former Master’s graduate from the Graduate School of Law Nagoya University, is currently a 1st year Doctoral student under the previous affiliation. The Election Commission will release the policy statement to be submitted by the candidate some time in December 14-19, 2008.
